May to November sees Mauritius's winter - less rain and lower humidity levels mean the weather is best for your holiday at this time. The summer period of December to April can be extremely hot and humid, and cyclones can threaten the island (particularly during january and February). The temperature on the coastal areas varies between 22°C in winter and 34°C in summer. The sea temperature varies between 22°C and 27°C. The western and northern regions are warmer and relatively drier than the East and the South.
